Denmark, Thailand in wind energy CDM agreement

The Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy signs agreement on developing the first large scale wind farms in Thailand

On the 28th of August 2008 the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok signed Letters of Intent (LoI) on behalf of the Danish Energy Agency with three Thai companies to develop three large scale wind farm projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

The three companies are joint ventures between local Thai stakeholders and the Danish wind power developer Intertec A/S. The wind farms, which will be located in the north eastern part of Thailand, will be the first large scale wind farms in Thailand and will have a total capacity of approximately 200 MW. The projects are expected to result in a total annual CO2-emission reduction of 220,000 tons.
