Tata Motors recently
expressed its confidence in Thailand’s automobile market following the
successful introduction of its Xenon one-ton pickup. The Xenon has been
given a warm reception by local audiences at the Bangkok International
Motor Show and will be offered for sale nationwide by May 2008.
The company unveiled
the Xenon pickup truck and other models at the latest Bangkok
International Motor Show. The number of visitors to Tata’s booth and
test drives by potential customers clearly showed their enthusiasm for
the company’s innovative product”, declared Abhichet Sitakalin, Sales
Director at Tata Motors (Thailand) Ltd.
“Following the
roll-out, our call centre has received more than 10,000 calls during
Motor Show period enquiring about the Xenon. The people who participated
in the test drives were also highly satisfied with its engine’s
performance, acceleration and the vehicle’s stability on the road. As a
result of our thorough market research, we understand the preference of
Thai pickup customer,” Mr. Sitakalin said.
According to Mr.
Sitakalin, the Xenon delivers a new attractive choice for high-terrain
use. The 2.2-litre fuel saving DICOR engine is powerful und responsive.
The pricing of the vehicle is reasonable, and the Xenon will be
available through our dealers nationwide by May 2008.
Tata Motors also
displayed a Xenon variant that is compatible wit compressed natural gas
(CNG). The vehicle is equipped with a standardized original gas tank
under its load body. This model attracted a lot of interest as well, and
the company plans to launch it in Thailand within this year.
“Tata is firmly
committed to the Thai market. Its commitment includes contributing to
the Thai community. We shall do this by increasing the number of local
employees, arranging technology transfer, taking care of the environment
and improving the quality of life in the surrounding communities through
a series of initiatives and programs,” Mr. Sitakin said.
Tata will expand its
network of dealers in Thailand from 23 to 46 by the end of this year.
The company’s focus is on steady growth with customer oriented dealers
who can provide efficient after-sales service, run a profitable
dealership and create their own networks and partnerships.
The company is also
joining forces with professional vendors to ensure effective logistics
and parts distribution, while collaborating with Castrol (Thailand) to
extend the reach of its service nationwide. Tata’s service will include
24-Hour Roadside Assistance.
