Toyota’s Asia
Pacific research and development, as well as production support
functions, are now combined into a new head office building.
Toyota Motor Asia
Pacific Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TMAP-EM), Toyota’s R&D
and production support base in the Asia Pacific region, recently
celebrated the opening of its new head office building in Bang Bo, Samut
Prakarn Province, Thailand. The new office will accommodate both R&D and
production support functions that were separately located before.
Established in April
2007 to integrate R&D with procurement and production support functions,
the purpose of TMAP-EM is to strengthen Toyota’s manufacturing
operations in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the
Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, India, Pakistan and Australia, according
to Toyota said in a releases. TMAP-EM provides supports to the
affiliated companies by assisting them in their efforts to pursue
self-reliance, and developing regional human resources.
Meanwhile, Toyota
Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. (TMAP-MS), located in Singapore, has
provided marketing support to Toyota’s marketing companies in Asia and
Pacific region since its establishment in 2001. TMAP-EM and TMAP-MS now
work together to strengthen and optimize Toyota’s business operations in
the region from the product development stage to manufacturing, sales,
and after-sales services.
The opening ceremony
was attended by H.E. Suwit Khunkitti, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
of Industry, the management of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan,
and other business partners form various countries in the Asia Pacific
region.
In his speech during
the ceremony, Tokuichi Uranishi, Executive Vice President of TMC said,
“TMAP-EM and TMAP-MS together play a leading role in enhancing Toyota’s
business operations in Asia Pacific, and in contributing to the
development of society and industry in the region.”
