Newly-appointed Industry Minister Mingkwan Sangsuwan sets the priority
to restore foreign investor confidence.
On the first day in office, he said that the first mission is to attract
foreign investment. He insisted that the "Thailand Investment Year"
campaign would be carried on.
He also vows to modernise the country's industrial sector.
"We have to think out of the box. Some of our policies may need a
drastic change in order to stay competitive in the global market," he
told senior officials.
In the past six months, Mingkwan served as a deputy prime minister and
the commerce minister. His new position has raised some criticisms on
neutrality, as he was a former executive of automaker Toyota Motor
Thailand which is a big player in the industrial sector. |
