More than 90 per cent of the manufacturers in inundated industrial estates have confirmed that they will continue paying their employees while they are shutdown and will keep them on when the water recedes and the factories reopen, Commerce Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said on Thursday. "The flood affected industrial estate factories confirm that they will continue paying their workers at 75 per cent of their regular rate as required by the law," the deputy prime minister for economic matters said. Mr Kittiratt said the government agreed with the business rehabilitation and investment promotion measures proposed by the operators of the industrial estates. The government will cut the tax on the imported replacement machinery and raw materials as requested, he added.
