About 1.9 million people visited the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show at Bitech Bang Na, and spent about 50 billion baht, from March 26 to April 6, vice chairman of the organising committee Jaturon Komolmis said on Wednesday. Mr Jaturon said Toyota took top place with 6,943 orders for vehicles, followed by Nissan (3,675), Isuzu (3,500), Mazda (3,234) and Honda (2,866). Mercedes-Benz headed sales of luxury cars with 1,186 orders, followed by BMW (646), Volvo (116) and Lexus (46). "The car sales volume is a good sign and an indicator that the country's economy is improving. This show helped people make a quicker decision to buy a car through the promotions of car makers," Mr Jatuporn said.
