Asia Green Energy to open warehouse

(The Nation, 03.08.2009)

Coal distributor Asia Green Energy next month will open a new warehouse along the Eastern Seaboard.

Deputy managing director Somyot Thitisuriyarak said this fourth warehouse would now drive revenue, with storage capacity of 100,000 tonnes of coal.

"We're installing machinery to separate high-quality coal from low-quality. We'll test it in late August and start using it commercially in September," he said.

He said it would boost sales along the Eastern Seaboard, now at 138,413 tonnes a year, or Bt310 million, accounting for 14 per cent of revenue.

The main clients there are energy and petrochemical firms and food-manufacturers.

The company forecasts revenue growth of 10 per cent this year, from Bt2.35 billion last year.

Some of this growth will come from the new warehouse.

"Rising oil prices will make manufacturers switch to coal as fuel, which will benefit our sales in the second half," Somyot said.
